Cristovam defends teachers' strike and charges federalization of education
In a statement on Friday ( 10/18/2013 ) , Senator Buarque ( PDT - DF ) lamented that the federal government does not take on the responsibility for teacher strikes in several cities . He also defended the federalization of education and criticized the attempt by the state and federal governments to reduce the adjustment of the floor of teachers planned for next year.
In assessing the parliamentary rather than a fight for the rights of teachers , teachers ' strikes are also a result of the abandonment of education.
- It is not possible for the federal government to continue to address the strikes in every state, in every city as a thing of the mayor and the governor . Strikes by teachers are a national issue that concerns the future . I have not seen a statement from President Dilma or education minister about it - said .
Besides ignoring the problem of strikes , Buarque says the federal government negotiates with the governors of the 26 states and the Federal District the opportunity to stop the 19% increase in the salary of public school teachers , scheduled for 2014 . According to the senator, governors argue it difficult to pay the wage increase provided for in the law that created the national floor of teachers and the government propose a change in the calculation that, in practice , amount to an adjustment of 7 % .
- The governors are working with the Ministry of Education to bring a law here , perhaps an interim measure , rejecting the law that ensures increased to 1,900 [ real ] and putting the increase at around 1,700 [ real ] . Go steal 200 dollars per month for each teacher who earns the floor . I repeat : Go steal because it is an entitlement by law - criticized .
federalization
Cristovam again defended the federalization of basic education as a solution to secure more resources for the sector . For this, the Senator asked for approval of the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution ( PEC ) 32/2013 , of his own, which provides for a national career education for workers and ensuring basic public works , equipment and assistance.
- When you need to remove taxes to sell more products , is . Why is it that when you need more money to pay teachers' salaries are not and have not found where ? - Questioned .
