Comenius , the father of modern didactics.
The Czech philosopher fought the medieval system , advocated the teaching of " everything to everyone " and was the first theorist to respect the intelligence and feelings of the child .
* The evolution of educational thought
When we talk about a school where children are respected as human beings if we think of modern conceptions of teaching . We also believe that the right of all people - absolutely all - education is a principle that emerged only a few dozen years.But , these ideas are consecrated only in the 20th century , and yet not everywhere in the world. But they were already in full 17th century advocated by Comenius ( 1592-1670 ) , Czech thinker who is considered the first great name in the history of modern education.
The most important work of Comenius , Didactica Magna , marks the beginning of systematic pedagogy and didactics in the West . The work, which the author devoted himself throughout his life, had great ambition . " Comenius calls his teaching of ' magna ' because he did not want a restricted , localized work," says João Luiz Gasparin , professor in the Department of Theory and Practice of Education , State University of Maringá . " It had to be large, as the world was being discovered at that time , with the expansion of trade and navigation . "
In the book , the thinker realizes rationalization of all educational activities , ranging from teaching theory to the issues of everyday life in the classroom . The school practice , for him , should imitate the processes of nature . In relations between teacher and student , the possibilities and interests of the child would be considered . The teacher would be seen as a professional, not a missionary , and was well paid for it. And the organization of time and curriculum would take into account the limitations of the body and the need , both students and teachers , have other activities .
